Benefits: 10 paid vacation days (5 aligned with the family’s prearranged travel and 5 at the nanny’s discretion), 3 paid sick days, paid major federal holidays, monthly healthcare stipend, annual raise, and annual discretionary bonus
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 1:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m., and Friday, 12:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m., with 4.5 additional flex hours per week for one date night, to be scheduled with advance notice. One date night per week is required and is included in the guaranteed hours. Rare weekend support on occasion would be preferred but is not a hard requirement.

A warm, busy, and active family in the West Village of New York City is seeking a dependable, proactive, and team-oriented Nanny/Family Assistant to support their two school-aged sons. The 12-year-old is mature, easygoing, respectful, and very independent. He follows directions well, self-advocates when he needs something, and is comfortable managing his schoolwork without prompting. He has a diverse food palette, is punctual. The 9-year-old is determined, curious, and very smart, with a great sense of humor. He thrives with a consistent schedule and clear expectations and benefits from encouragement when it comes to expanding his food palette. He also participates in speech therapy in addition to his sports activities.
The brothers have a wonderful relationship and spend a great deal of time together. Both boys have active schedules with sports and extracurricular activities throughout the week, and the Nanny/Family Assistant and Mom will often "divide and conquer" to ensure everyone gets where they need to be. The family is looking for someone who is comfortable managing a busy after-school schedule and who genuinely enjoys being engaged with school-aged children.
Dad works from an office five days per week, while Mom works per diem at a hospital approximately four times per month. The family has a 16-month-old Labrador Retriever, and some light pet care will be part of the role. The 9-year-old has allergies to eggs and nuts, so the family is looking for someone who is attentive to food safety and comfortable working within the family’s dietary needs.
The family spends July and August on Fisher’s Island and would love for their Nanny/Family Assistant to accompany them for part of the summer, approximately three days per week. The family values reliability, consistency, teamwork, initiative, and a positive, can-do attitude and is looking for someone who will become a trusted and long-term member of their household.
About the Role
The Nanny/Family Assistant will provide a combination of childcare, family assistant, and household support, with a significant focus on transportation and managing the boys’ busy after-school schedules. The 9-year-old is picked up from school at 3:00 p.m., and the 12-year-old is picked up at 4:10 p.m. From there, the Nanny/Family Assistant will help coordinate and transport the boys to their various sports practices, speech therapy, and other activities throughout the week. There will be a considerable amount of driving between school, activities, and home, so a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and confidence driving in New York City are essential.
The Nanny/Family Assistant and Mom will work together to "divide and conquer" the boys’ activities, and the ideal candidate will be organized and proactive about preparing for each practice, keeping track of schedules, ensuring the boys have everything they need, and helping the afternoons and evenings run smoothly.
In addition to childcare and transportation, the role includes meaningful family assistant and household responsibilities. Duties will include meal preparation for the family, kitchen tidying, light home tidying and organization, grocery shopping, family errands, taking out the garbage, assisting with household projects, maintaining the children’s schedules, preparing for sports practices, and laundry. Strong cooking skills are preferred, as meal preparation is an important part of the role.
The ideal candidate will have a can-do, team-player mindset and be someone who naturally looks for ways to contribute to the flow of the home. They should be consistent, reliable, engaged with the children, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative without needing to be asked to complete every task. The family is looking for someone who is attentive and present throughout the day and who understands the importance of being engaged rather than spending time on their phone.
The ideal candidate will be warm, responsible, organized, proactive, and energetic, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively the broader household. A strong sense of reliability and follow-through is essential, as is the ability to adapt to the family’s busy schedule while maintaining a calm and positive presence.
Requirements:
Prior professional childcare or nanny experience
Experience caring for school-aged children
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Confident and experienced driving in New York City
Comfortable driving frequently between school, sports practices, and activities
Strong cooking and meal preparation skills preferred
Highly organized and able to manage multiple schedules and responsibilities
Consistent, reliable, punctual, and dependable
