About the Family & Role
A warm family in Newton, MA, is seeking a kind, energetic, and proactive nanny to care for their two young boys, ages 4 and 1. The family is looking for a long-term partner who will become a trusted right-hand person to Mom throughout the day, bringing a collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented approach to the household. Mom is a stay-at-home parent, while Dad works primarily from the office.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for early childhood development, a growth mindset, and an eagerness to continue learning and incorporating new childcare philosophies and approaches. The family values consistency of care and is looking for someone who is open to collaborating with the parents and learning about their preferred approaches to child development, emotional regulation, behavioral support, and milestones such as potty training. A nanny who is receptive to feedback, takes initiative, and approaches new challenges with curiosity and flexibility will thrive in this role.
The 4-year-old is an active, curious boy who enjoys reading, learning, and play. He attends school four days per week from 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM. His afternoon routine includes lunch at home, quiet time, followed by snack time, playtime, dinner, and a bedtime routine beginning at 7:00 PM. The family would love a nanny who enjoys reading with him and supporting early literacy and phonics skills.
The 1-year-old is at an exciting stage of development and follows a two-nap schedule. Both children enjoy active experiences, including swim classes, and the family appreciates a nanny who enjoys getting outside, exploring, and keeping the children engaged throughout the day.
The family values a caregiver who models the behaviors they hope to cultivate in their children, particularly patience, kindness, emotional regulation, and follows through on loving but firm boundaries. Strong communication skills and the ability to read the room and anticipate what is needed throughout the day are especially important.
The family maintains a no-screen-time policy for the children and is looking for a nanny who is fully present and engaged during working hours, including keeping personal phone use to a minimum. The role also includes child-related household responsibilities to help maintain a smoothly functioning home.
An important household consideration is that Mom has an allergy to scented products. The nanny must be comfortable avoiding all scented products, including personal care items and laundry detergents, to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the family.
