About the Family
A warm, busy, and welcoming family in Northwest Washington, D.C. is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and highly organized nanny/family assistant to support their home and two wonderful boys, ages 5 and 9. The brothers share a close bond and adore one another, and the family enjoys a loving, silly, and affectionate dynamic. Their oldest son is highly creative, energetic, and loves drawing and climbing, while their youngest enjoys cars, building projects, and hands-on activities.
Both children attend after school care until 5:00pm each weekday, creating an ideal opportunity for a nanny/family assistant who enjoys balancing childcare responsibilities with meaningful household support throughout the day.
The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with elementary-aged children and who can confidently manage family assistant responsibilities during school hours before transitioning into childcare responsibilities in the afternoons and evenings. Both parents work in hybrid roles between their offices and separate home offices, so the family values strong communication, professionalism, and a collaborative working relationship with their nanny.
They are hoping to find a warm, proactive, and highly dependable caregiver who can help create a structured yet joyful environment for the children while also helping the household run smoothly. The family has no dietary restrictions or special household requirements and is looking forward to welcoming someone who will become a valued long-term member of their team.
About the Role
This role involves a thoughtful combination of childcare and family assistant support. Responsibilities include school pick-ups, transporting the children to activities as needed, planning engaging and age-appropriate activities, supporting homework and school projects when appropriate, preparing meals and snacks, encouraging age-appropriate independence and life skills, and helping maintain consistent routines and expectations for both children.
In addition to childcare responsibilities, the family is seeking someone who is comfortable assisting with a variety of household tasks to support the overall flow of the home. Duties include washing and folding the family’s laundry, general pickup and organization, kitchen tidying, grocery shopping and meal planning, family meal preparation, running miscellaneous household errands, maintaining household inventory, taking out trash and recycling as needed, managing contractors and service providers, researching and booking household services, coordinating maintenance and servicing for family vehicles, managing seasonal clothing inventory for the children, helping maintain the family’s electronic calendars and schedules, and creating and maintaining efficient organizational systems throughout the home.
The ideal candidate is warm, responsible, organized, adaptable, and highly self-motivated. The family would love to find someone who enjoys cooking, takes initiative without being asked, consistently follows through on responsibilities, communicates clearly, and naturally thinks one step ahead. They are seeking someone who can maintain loving but firm boundaries with the children, model kindness and respect, and become an important and supportive presence in their home for years to come.
