About the Family
A warm, welcoming, and active family in Washington, D.C. is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and highly organized nanny/family assistant to support their home and two wonderful daughters, ages 5 and 10. Their oldest daughter is bubbly, funny, incredibly warm, and loves engaging in conversation. She enjoys connecting with others and brings a joyful energy to the home. Their youngest daughter is a bit slower to warm up but is incredibly affectionate, loving, and thrives with patient, nurturing caregivers who take the time to build a trusting relationship.
The nanny will pick the girls up from school each weekday and maintain a schedule of various after-school activities throughout the week, creating an ideal opportunity for a nanny/family assistant who enjoys balancing meaningful household support during school hours with engaging childcare in the afternoons and evenings. Dad works a hybrid schedule between home and the office, so the family values professionalism, open communication, and a collaborative partnership with their nanny.
They are hoping to find a warm, proactive, and self-sufficient caregiver who naturally takes initiative and enjoys being a true member of the family's team. The family has no household dietary restrictions or allergies and is looking forward to welcoming someone who will become a valued long-term presence in their home.
About the Role
This role offers a thoughtful combination of childcare and family assistant responsibilities. Childcare duties include school pick-ups, transporting the girls to and from their after-school activities, planning engaging and age-appropriate activities, preparing healthy meals and snacks, encouraging age-appropriate independence and responsibility, and helping maintain consistent routines and expectations. The family would also appreciate occasional weekend or date night support when available, though this is not a requirement of the role.
In addition to childcare responsibilities, the family is seeking someone who enjoys helping a busy household run smoothly through thoughtful family assistant support. Responsibilities include kitchen tidying, children's laundry, light household tidying and organization, meal preparation for both the children and family, grocery shopping and meal planning, running household errands, coordinating household vendors and service providers, helping manage servicing for the family vehicles, providing moderate pet care for the family's dog, and remaining flexible in assisting with additional household tasks as they arise.
The ideal candidate is warm, nurturing, responsible, proactive, and highly dependable. They are seeking someone who is naturally organized, enjoys taking initiative without needing direction, communicates well, and approaches each day with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. The family would love to find someone who is confident working independently while also partnering closely with Dad to help create a calm, organized, and loving home environment for years to come.
