About the Family
A warm, close-knit, and highly engaged family on New York City's Upper West Side is seeking a professional Nanny/Family Assistant to join their long-term caregiving team. The family places a tremendous value on education, curiosity, kindness, and raising capable, independent children. Reading together, practicing musical instruments, exploring new ideas, and engaging in meaningful conversation are woven into everyday life, and they are looking for a caregiver who genuinely enjoys fostering children's intellectual growth while creating a loving, structured environment.
Both parents work full-time, with a combination of office and work from home on Fridays, and deeply value a collaborative approach to caregiving. This role will partner closely with the family's current nanny in a true teammate model, with each nanny supporting two of the four children throughout the afternoon and evening. Beginning around 6:30pm, at least one parent is also actively involved in the evening routine, creating a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone works together toward the same goals.
About the Role
This is a Nanny/Family Assistant position supporting four delightful children while working alongside the family's existing nanny. During the school year, the three oldest children leave for the school bus around 7:00am and dismissal is shortly after 3:00pm, followed by various after-school activities that typically conclude around 6:00pm before dinner, homework, evening routines, and bedtime around 8:00pm. The youngest child remains home during the day until beginning preschool in January, when she will attend from approximately 9:00am–3:00pm.
The oldest child, age 8, is exceptionally sweet, energetic, and academically motivated. He has a love for mathematics, enjoys reading, and practices the piano. His 6-year-old sister is remarkably confident, emotionally intuitive, and caring. She is mature beyond her years, reads social situations with ease, and enjoys meaningful connections with those around her. The family's 5-year-old daughter is naturally curious, especially about engineering, science, and space. She is adventurous, brave, and enjoys taking healthy, developmentally appropriate risks while exploring the world around her. The youngest child is a charming, smiley one-year-old who loves books, eagerly greets everyone she meets with enthusiastic waves, and already has a wonderfully expressive personality.
Beyond providing exceptional childcare, the nanny will assist with child-focused household responsibilities that help keep the home running smoothly. Responsibilities include children's laundry, preparing meals and snacks for the children, kitchen tidying, bottle cleaning and sanitation, grocery shopping and meal planning, maintaining household and children's inventory, seasonal clothing organization, light errands, taking out the garbage, and proactively keeping children's spaces organized. The family maintains a kosher kitchen, though there are no dietary restrictions or food allergies to manage.
The ideal candidate is highly professional, academically minded, organized, and naturally proactive. The family is seeking someone who enjoys supporting homework, executive functioning skills, and educational enrichment while helping children develop confidence, responsibility, and independence. They appreciate caregivers who hold children to high yet developmentally appropriate expectations, involve them around the home, encourage autonomy, and establish loving but firm boundaries. The family follows a no-screen philosophy and is looking for someone who embraces engaging children through books, conversation, creative play, music, hands-on learning, and meaningful experiences. Requirements:
Prior professional nanny experience
Experience caring for infants, toddlers, and school-aged children
Strong understanding of child development and developmental milestones
Comfortable collaborating closely with another nanny and the parents
Academically minded with the ability to meaningfully support homework and enrichment activities
Organized, proactive, resourceful, and able to anticipate a family's needs
Excellent communication skills and sound judgment
Comfortable maintaining loving, firm, and consistent boundaries
Ability to foster independence, responsibility, and autonomy in children
Comfortable with a no-screen caregiving philosophy
Reliable, dependable, and highly professional
Excellent references from previous families
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Pets: None
Transportation: No on-the-job driving required. Public transportation will be used throughout the day. The family will provide OMNY reimbursement or parking reimbursement for commuting as applicable.
Travel: No regular travel required.
