About the Family
A welcoming and deeply collaborative family in Winchester is seeking a compassionate and emotionally intelligent nanny to join their caregiving team. Mom is a stay-at-home parent who works closely alongside the family's current nanny, while Dad works from the office full-time. Together, they have intentionally created a true team environment where everyone communicates openly, supports one another, and shares the common goal of helping both children thrive.
The family strongly believes in a "teammate approach" to caregiving and is looking for a nanny who enjoys collaborating with parents and fellow caregivers. The new nanny will become an integral member of an established support system built on mutual respect, flexibility, and consistent communication. Throughout the afternoons, this allows for both children to have 1:1 support if needed, so they both have their individual needs met while creating opportunities for meaningful connection, regulation, and success.
The family embraces neurodiversity-affirming care and believes that connection is the foundation for growth. They prioritize a low-demand, connection-over-correction philosophy, meeting each child where they are while recognizing that regulation and trust come before expectations. The ideal candidate will genuinely enjoy partnering with the family in maintaining this thoughtful approach and will be comfortable adapting each day based on the children's individual needs.
The family also shares their home with a beloved dog who has become a wonderful source of comfort and joy for both children. Spending time outdoors with the dog has become one of the highlights of the children's day, making comfort around dogs—and willingness to assist with light pet care—an important part of the role. The family occasionally travels to Maine during the summer and New Hampshire over February break, and while some travel is appreciated, it is not required.
About the Role
This position centers around providing individualized, relationship-based support for two incredible neurodivergent children while partnering closely with Mom and the current nanny to create calm, connected, and successful afternoons. The role requires flexibility, emotional regulation, and the ability to thoughtfully adjust to each child's unique needs from day to day.
The family's 10-year-old daughter is exceptionally bright, joyful, quick-witted, and wonderfully silly. She has PANS/PANDAS and generally has many happy, successful days where her symptoms are well managed. During occasional flares, however, she benefits from increased support, flexibility, and reduced demands. On these more challenging days, it is important that she and her younger brother are supported separately so each child can receive the individualized attention they need. She attends school until 3:00 p.m. (12:00 p.m. on Mondays), participates in occupational therapy at home 1x/week, swim team, therapeutic horseback riding 1x/week, and receives in-home immunoglobulin therapy from a nurse three days every five weeks.
The family's 8-year-old son has Level 1 Autism and is affectionate, bright, self-sufficient, and incredibly lovable. Like his sister, he responds exceptionally well to caregivers who prioritize connection over correction, maintain a calm presence, and utilize a low-demand approach. He attends school until 2:20 p.m. and participates in occupational therapy 1x/week, swim lessons 1x/week, and therapeutic horseback riding 1x/week.
Responsibilities include school pick-up and transportation to activities, providing individualized childcare and emotional support, planning engaging activities based on each child's interests and energy level, preparing meals and snacks for the children, children's laundry, kitchen tidying, light home organization, taking out the garbage, light pet care, and maintaining a calm, organized environment that supports regulation and connection. The family would also appreciate occasional date night availability.
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, flexible, proactive, emotionally regulated, and genuinely enjoys building trusting relationships with children. They possess strong emotional intelligence, approach challenges without judgment, embrace feedback with a growth mindset, and understand that every day may look a little different. Above all, the family is looking for someone who is excited to become a true teammate—working collaboratively with Mom and the current nanny to provide thoughtful, individualized care while celebrating each child's unique strengths.
