About the Family
A warm and active family in Larchmont, NY is seeking an experienced, engaging, and thoughtful nanny to support their two 9-year-old boys. The twins are both bright, social, and active, and the family is looking for someone who can build a strong connection with each child while providing structure, consistency, and age-appropriate boundaries.
Both boys have dyslexia and attend a school that specializes in language based learning disabilities. Their family values a nanny who is empathetic, engaging, organized, proactive, and able to support each child’s individual personality and needs.
Both parents work full time. Mom works a hybrid schedule, while Dad works from an office approximately 80% of the time. The nanny should be comfortable working independently and communicating openly with the parents.
The family has no household dietary restrictions, although one of the boys is dairy sensitive. They do not currently have pets but may add a dog in the future.
About the Role
This role is focused on providing engaging after-school care while supporting the boys’ school routines, activities, development, and overall well-being. Both boys attend school from 8:15 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and typically take the bus home. On Mondays and Thursdays, they have baseball, and on Wednesdays, they attend Hebrew School and will need to be picked up from school. The family may add a few additional afternoon activities in the fall.
One of the boys is thoughtful, bright, and detail-oriented. He loves to talk, is competitive, and enjoys sports, chess, playing, and spending time with friends. The other is athletic, bright, and very outgoing, with a big imagination and a love of books, board games, sports, and social activities. The ideal nanny will take the time to understand each boy individually and foster a strong, trusting relationship with both.
In addition to childcare, the nanny will assist with house management duties as time permits. Responsibilities include kitchen tidying, children’s laundry, light home organization, meal preparation for the children and family, grocery shopping and meal planning, household errands and returns, household inventory, coordinating with contractors, seasonal clothing organization for the children, and taking out the garbage.
The ideal candidate is empathetic, engaging, self-regulated, detail-oriented, proactive, reliable, and flexible.
