About the Family
A warm family on the Upper East Side is seeking a kind, engaging, and experienced nanny to primarily care for their 5-year-old son while supporting their three children as needed. The family has a 13-year-old boy, an 8-year-old boy, and a 5-year-old boy.
Mom is a stay-at-home parent, and Dad works primarily from an office. The family is looking for someone who can bring a warm, patient, and energetic presence to their home and who genuinely enjoys engaging with children and creating meaningful connections.
The family has two dogs and one hypoallergenic cat, so comfort around pets is important, although pet care will not be part of the role. There are no dietary restrictions or allergies in the household.
About the Role
This role is primarily focused on caring for the family’s 5-year-old son after school. He is very sweet, gentle, and cautious and loves Legos and Minecraft. He has low muscle tone and enjoys getting out to the playground after school. He benefits from loving but firm boundaries, clear and consistent expectations, and a nanny who will engage him in conversation and encourage him to be active and engaged outside the home.
The nanny will pick him up from school at 1:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and at 12:00 p.m. on Fridays. After school, the family would like the nanny to be proactive about getting him out of the house, arranging playdates, visiting playgrounds, and creating fun, age-appropriate activities. The ideal nanny will bring an animated and engaging energy to the afternoons and help the child build confidence, independence, and social connections.
The 8-year-old boy is described as super fun, funny, and very sweet. He looks up to his older brother and is especially caring toward his younger brother. He is active and has dyslexia. The 13-year-old is a very independent, kind, and conversational child who does very well in school. He loves playing guitar and soccer and has strong interests in music and movies. Both older boys are sweet and caring and may need occasional support from the nanny.
Household responsibilities will include preparing meals for the children, light household and kitchen tidying, and managing the children’s laundry. The family is looking for someone who naturally takes initiative and is comfortable keeping the children’s spaces and routines organized.
The ideal candidate is kind, patient, warm, fun, animated, and genuinely engaging with children. They should be comfortable setting loving but firm boundaries, maintaining clear and consistent expectations, and encouraging the 5-year-old to get out of the house and participate in activities. A nanny who is proactive about arranging playdates and creating enriching afternoon experiences will be especially well suited to the role.
