About the Family
A warm and welcoming family in Brookline, Massachusetts is seeking a warm, nurturing, engaging, and highly attentive nanny for their 1-year-old daughter. The family is currently living in Westwood and will be moving to Brookline in October. Their daughter is very social, happy, adaptable, affectionate, curious, and energetic. She loves new environments and people, enjoys being outside and participating in activities, and is especially interested in the library, music classes, and exploring new experiences. She does well with a routine and is currently napping twice per day. She is still nursing but also takes a bottle very well and is currently on a hybrid feeding schedule.
Both parents work from home in offices on the third floor of the home. The family values a collaborative relationship with their nanny and would love to learn from someone with a strong understanding of infant and toddler development. They are looking for someone who can share their knowledge, communicate openly with Mom and Dad, and work together as a caregiving team to support their daughter’s growth and development.
About the Role
The nanny will provide loving, engaging, and developmentally supportive care for the child while helping establish and maintain her daily routines. A major priority for the family is finding a nanny who enjoys getting out into the community with their daughter and can facilitate enriching experiences, activities, and opportunities for socialization. Responsibilities include taking her to classes, visiting the library, spending time outdoors, exploring the neighborhood, encouraging curiosity, imagination, and creativity, and creating engaging activities that support her development and interests.
Child-related household responsibilities include laundry for the children, meal preparation, bottle cleaning and sanitation, kitchen tidying, light home tidying, and general organization.
The ideal nanny will be extremely nurturing, warm, caring, and engaging, with a genuine love for working with infants and toddlers. The family is looking for someone who can provide loving but firm boundaries, support their daughter’s development, and bring a thoughtful, enriching approach to her care. A collaborative relationship is especially important, and the family would value a nanny who feels comfortable sharing their knowledge and developmental expertise with Mom and Dad.
Occasional evening support for date nights is appreciated but not required.
Requirements:
Prior professional nanny experience
Experience caring for infants and toddlers
Strong understanding of infant/toddler development
Extremely warm, nurturing, and caring personality
Engaging and proactive caregiving style
Enjoys getting out into the community and facilitating enriching activities
Comfortable supporting developmental milestones through play and everyday activities
Collaborative communication style
Trustworthy, reliable, and highly attentive
Strong organizational and communication skills
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle
Comfortable with very occasional on-the-job driving
Excellent references from previous families
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Pets: One sweet and social Mini Labradoodle; no pet care required, but comfort with dogs is important
Transportation: Nanny must have their own reliable vehicle; parking is available. On-the-job driving will be very rare.
Travel: No travel required.
