About the Family
About the Family
A warm, active, and loving family in Rye is seeking a dynamic, proactive, energetic, and highly communicative nanny to join their busy household and become a true partner to Mom. The family has five children ranging from 5 months to 8 years old, each with their own unique personalities and interests.
Their inquisitive 8-year-old loves engineering, building with cardboard, experiments, working in the garden, and hiking. He enjoys being a big brother and has a soft spot for his sisters. Their almost 6-year-old is a competitive but cool cucumber who loves sports, being outside, card games, vibing to music, and one-on-one time. Their almost 4-year-old loves riding her bike, keeping up with her big brothers, drawing, beading, and puzzles. Their almost 3-year-old is spunky, hilarious, and loves to jump, run, and play. Their 5-month-old is described as an absolute angel who is sweet and easygoing.
Mom is at home full time with the kids, and Dad works a hybrid schedule between the office and a home office. The family also has a full-time housekeeper who is able to assist with the children Monday–Thursday from 9:00am–6:00pm and Friday from 9:00am–1:00pm.
The family is looking for someone who will become a long-term member of their team and work collaboratively with the parents.
About the Role
This role is not about managing all five children at once. Instead, the nanny will act as Mom’s partner and assist with children’s activities and day-to-day needs. This may include taking a few kids to a playground, assisting with school or activity pickups, facilitating playdates, playing outside with the children, and helping keep the children engaged and active.
The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys getting down on the floor and playing, kicking a soccer ball around the yard, building elaborate forts, doing crafts, and spending time outdoors with the children. Equally as important, the nanny should be comfortable setting boundaries, maintaining structure, and helping the children learn responsibility and independence.
A major focus of the role will be encouraging the children to participate in caring for their own belongings rather than simply asking the nanny clean up after them. The nanny will work collaboratively with the parents to help coach the children through age-appropriate responsibilities such as hanging up jackets and putting shoes away, bringing plates to the sink, putting dirty clothes in the hamper, etc.
Child-related household responsibilities include:
Helping children clean up after activities
Encouraging children to take responsibility for their belongings
Supporting age-appropriate independence and routines
Preparing for and managing children’s activities and outings
Helping with school pickups and after school activities
Supporting children with transitions and daily routines
Assisting with homework
The family has one friendly Labrador Retriever. The nanny should be comfortable around dogs.
The family spends a few weeks away during the summer and would prefer a nanny who is open to some travel. A passport is preferred but not required.
Requirements:
Prior professional nanny experience with excellent references from previous families
Experience caring for multiple children
Teacher or educational background desired
Fun-loving, active, proactive, hardworking, empathetic, creative, and high-energy personality
Strong communication skills
Comfortable with imaginative play and engaging activities
Enjoys spending time outdoors with children
Comfortable setting boundaries and maintaining structure
Collaborative and team-oriented
Observant and able to anticipate children’s needs
Strong understanding of age-appropriate independence and responsibility

Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle preferred
Passport and willingness to travel preferred but not required
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Pets: One friendly Labrador Retriever
Transportation: Family requires that the nanny use her own car to commute to work; a family car will be provided when driving the children. The family considers themselves very fortunate to live close to schools, playgrounds, church, and the library so they try to walk / bike when possible.
Travel: Nanny who is open to travel is preferred but not required
