About the Family & Role
A warm family in Rye, NY, is seeking an honest, reliable, and proactive nanny/family assistant to support their four children, ages 3, 5, 7, and 9. The family is looking for someone who is easygoing, calm, communicative, and comfortable taking initiative to help keep afternoons and evenings running smoothly. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with active, social children and be comfortable balancing engaging childcare with light household responsibilities.
The 3-year-old girl is very sweet and easygoing. She loves playing outside and enjoys independent play. The three boys are athletic, energetic, and very social. They love spending time outdoors, playing sports, and having friends over. They are well-behaved, smart, and enjoy staying active, with each boy participating in sports activities daily.
The children finish school at 3:00 PM and typically have time to play afterward, often with friends visiting the home. Their activities generally begin between 4:00 and 5:00 PM, while the oldest child has some activities that start at 6:30 PM. All three boys play squash at a location approximately 10 minutes from the home and also participate in soccer and lacrosse on the weekends. Dinners and snacks are typically prepared before activities. The family’s evening routine begins around 6:45 PM, with bedtimes ranging from 7:30 to 9:00 PM.
Mom is a stay-at-home parent, and Dad works in the office every day. Mom and the nanny/family assistant will work collaboratively to divide and conquer childcare responsibilities, so the nanny/family assistant will never be responsible for all four children at once. The family is looking for someone who communicates openly, takes initiative, and works well as part of a team.
In addition to childcare, the role includes light household support to help keep the home organized and running smoothly. Responsibilities include children’s meal preparation, light laundry, organizing children’s spaces, kitchen tidying, and occasional grocery shopping. The family has two Goldendoodles and a lizard. Light pet care, including walking the dogs, would be helpful but is not required; no care for the lizard is expected.
