Full-Time Nanny/House Manager Needed in Southport Corridor, Chicago, IL

Location: Southport Corridor, Chicago, IL

Live-In or Live-Out: This is a live-out position

Benefits:

  • 5 paid sick days

  • Paid major federal holidays

  • 5 PTO days (nanny’s choice)

  • 3–4 additional weeks of paid vacation during family travel

  • Open to providing a monthly healthcare stipend

  • Use of family vehicle for work-related driving (mileage reimbursement if own car used)

Household Dynamic:

This warm, professional family of four is looking for a thoughtful, proactive nanny and house manager to support their two children and household. Both children attend different schools during the day, so the role includes a combination of childcare and home management. The children are sweet, active, and creative—with the youngest managing some anxiety and sensory sensitivities—so a nanny who is patient, emotionally attuned, and flexible is key.

The family values open communication and wants a nanny who will feel like part of the team. Both parents work primarily out of the home, though they occasionally work remotely. Screen-time is limited during the week, and they prioritize imaginative play, physical activity, and emotional connection.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal nanny is organized, energetic, confident but gentle, and a strong communicator. A self-starter who can anticipate needs, handle logistics, and create a calm, fun, and structured environment will thrive in this role. Comfort with sensory-sensitive children and a collaborative, family-first mindset are essential. A background in working with school-age children, strong planning skills, and the ability to manage both child-related and household tasks will be highly valued.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide engaged care for two children (ages 6 and 10)

  • Drive children to and from school and after-school activities

  • Plan age-appropriate, screen-free activities

  • Handle meal prep for the family and children’s lunches/snacks

  • Complete children’s laundry and manage wardrobe

  • Keep play areas, kitchen, and children’s rooms tidy and organized

  • Run household errands (groceries, Target, dry cleaning, etc.)

  • Coordinate home maintenance and car appointments (e.g., plumber, oil change)

  • Accompany the family to their second home in Michigan several times per year (travel required)

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional childcare experience (school-age experience preferred)

  • Confident supporting children with anxiety/sensory challenges

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)

  • Valid driver’s license and clean record (car provided, or mileage reimbursed if using own)

  • Positive, flexible, reliable, and communicative

  • Comfortable with occasional overnights and travel

This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned nanny and house manager who thrives in a dynamic household and wants to build a long-term relationship with a kind, respectful family. If you are thoughtful, dependable, and love working with children in a supportive and organized environment, we’d love to hear from you!
