About the Family
A warm, active family in Northeast Washington D.C. (H Street Corridor) is seeking a Spanish-speaking nanny/family assistant to support their three children and help manage their household. Their 10-year-old son is highly active and outgoing, their 6-year-old son is active and slower to warm up, and their 4-year-old daughter is extroverted and engaged. All three children participate in a variety of sports and extracurricular activities 1-2 times per week, including soccer, basketball, baseball, and ballet.
The children attend full-time school and aftercare during the school year (9:00am–5:30pm), and spend summers in camps. The family maintains a structured but active routine centered around school, sports, and activities.
Both parents are working; the mother is in the office four days per week, and the father works remotely while also maintaining an external office. They are seeking a reliable, proactive partner who can support both childcare and household management in a consistent and organized way.
About the Role
This role is a blend of childcare and family assistant responsibilities, focused on supporting the children’s daily routines, transportation to and from school and activities, and managing the household during school hours.
Household responsibilities include kitchen reset, children’s and adult laundry, home tidying and organization, trash/recycling, meal prep for the children, pet care, linens and bedding laundry, grocery shopping, and household inventory management. The nanny/family assistant will be expected to take initiative and help keep the household running smoothly.
The ideal candidate is Spanish-speaking, warm, patient, proactive, highly organized, and communicative. They should be confident managing school-age children in active schedules, comfortable with household management tasks, and able to anticipate both children’s and family needs. A strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and engagement with the children is essential.
Requirements:
Prior professional childcare or nanny experience
Experience with school-age children and busy activity schedules
Spanish-speaking required
Strong organizational and household management skills
Proactive, reliable, and highly communicative
Warm, patient, playful, and engaging with children
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (vehicle required; parking available)
Comfortable with weekend and occasional overnight support
Strong references from previous families
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
4 year degree preferred
Pets: Family has a 4-month-old golden retriever
Transportation: Nanny can use their own car or family car; parking is available; driving is required for school and activities
Travel: Domestic and international travel required a couple times per year
