About the Family
A warm, thoughtful, and welcoming family in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a kind, reliable, and engaging nanny/family assistant to support their two wonderful sons, ages 5.5 years and 9 months. Their oldest son is smart, funny, high-energy, and incredibly thoughtful, especially with his baby brother. He has Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder and benefits from caregivers who can meet him where he is, support emotional regulation, and implement accommodations and strategies recommended by his therapy team. He thrives with predictability, declarative language, low-demand approaches, social stories, sensory supports, consistency, and caregivers who can bring creativity, humor, and flexibility into their interactions.
Their youngest son is a happy, easygoing infant who is crawling, eating well, and eager to keep up with his older brother. He enjoys exploring his environment and is especially interested in watching and engaging with his sibling throughout the day.
The family values a collaborative, team-oriented approach to caregiving and is seeking a nanny who will work closely alongside their other nanny to ensure both children receive individualized attention and support. This role requires a caregiver who is adaptable, communicative, and genuinely enjoys working as part of a team. The family is looking for someone who can seamlessly collaborate with parents, specialists, and fellow caregivers while maintaining confidence and independence in their responsibilities.
Dad primarily works from home when not traveling for work, while Mom works from an office outside the home. The family values open communication, mutual respect, and a partnership mindset, and is excited to welcome a caregiver who shares these values.
About the Role
This role combines attentive childcare with family assistant responsibilities to help keep the household running smoothly. Responsibilities include participating in afternoon therapies with the oldest child following school pick-up at 1:15pm, supporting therapeutic strategies and accommodations recommended by specialists, and helping foster a nurturing, engaging environment tailored to each child's individual needs.
Family assistant responsibilities include children's laundry, meal preparation for the children, bottle cleaning and sanitation, toy rotation, seasonal clothing organization and inventory, household inventory management, light home tidying and organization, grocery shopping, dry-cleaning pick-up, and assisting with the creation and maintenance of therapeutic tools and supports for the oldest child.
The ideal candidate is warm, adaptable, emotionally intelligent, and naturally nurturing. The family is seeking someone who is active, creative, playful, and highly engaged with children while also demonstrating professionalism, strong communication skills, and excellent judgment. Because this position is part of a caregiving team, a collaborative mindset, willingness to give and receive feedback, and ability to work closely with another nanny are essential. They would love a nanny who is self-motivated, growth-oriented, and able to thoughtfully adapt to changing needs while keeping the children's well-being at the center of everything they do. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a long-term position with a warm family who values partnership, trust, collaboration, and open communication.
