Description: About the Family

A warm, welcoming, and thoughtful family in Boston's South End is seeking an organized, proactive, and engaging nanny/household manager to support their two wonderful children while helping keep their household running smoothly. Their daughter is entering third grade this fall and is exceptionally responsible, independent, adaptable, and mature for her age. She enjoys school, completes her homework independently with minimal support, and participates in a variety of after-school activities throughout the week. She thrives with caregivers who provide encouragement and guidance without needing a particularly firm parenting style.

Their energetic three-year-old son is happy, outgoing, and full of personality. He loves sports, being outdoors, and spending time with people. He flourishes with caregivers who can provide consistent expectations, lovingly enforce appropriate boundaries, and enthusiastically engage him in play, conversation, and everyday activities. He attends preschool, is picked up at 1:00 p.m., and typically naps for approximately two hours each afternoon.

Their daughter is picked up from a nearby school bus stop at 3:45 p.m. (or 2:45 p.m. on Wednesdays), while their son will be picked up from preschool by walking or taking the MBTA. The family values active, engaged caregiving and hopes to find someone who truly enjoys building meaningful relationships with children while fostering independence, confidence, and joyful everyday experiences.

Mom works full-time from an office, while Dad splits his time between an office and a separate home office. The family is seeking someone who is dependable, organized, intuitive, and an excellent communicator. They appreciate caregivers who naturally take initiative, can read the room, anticipate household needs, and contribute positively to the rhythm of family life.

The family has no dietary restrictions or food allergies and does not currently have pets or anticipate adding pets to the household.

About the Role

This position offers an excellent combination of childcare and household management responsibilities. During school hours, the nanny will focus on household organization and preparing for the children's return home before transitioning into afternoon childcare that includes preschool and school pick-ups, transportation to after-school activities, supporting homework routines, encouraging engaging play, preparing occasional meals and snacks for the children, and helping maintain calm and consistent afternoon and evening routines.

In addition to providing attentive, relationship-based childcare, the family is looking for someone who enjoys helping the household stay organized and running efficiently. Responsibilities include children's laundry, seasonal clothing inventory and organization, toy rotation, light tidying and organization of common living areas and the children's bedrooms, grocery shopping, kitchen inventory management, household errands, managing school calendars and children's schedules, occasional meal preparation for the children, children's packing and unpacking for family trips, and transportation to extracurricular activities using the family vehicle.

The ideal candidate is warm, organized, proactive, and highly engaged with children. They are seeking someone who naturally balances kindness with appropriate structure, communicates openly, takes initiative without needing direction, and genuinely enjoys creating meaningful connections with children. The family hopes to find someone interested in becoming a long-term, trusted member of their family's support system.

Occasional evening or weekend support for date nights would be appreciated when available but is not required.

Requirements:

• Prior professional nanny or nanny/household manager experience

• Experience caring for children of varying ages

• Strong organizational and household management skills

• Warm, engaging, and emotionally intelligent personality

• Able to provide loving but consistent boundaries for young children

• Reliable, mature, proactive, and highly dependable

• Excellent communication skills and professionalism

• Able to independently manage schedules, household projects, and family logistics

• Comfortable using public transportation and driving the family vehicle for children's transportation

• Passionate about engaging children through play, conversation, and enriching activities

• 4-year college degree preferred

• Excellent professional references

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Pets: None.

Transportation: The family vehicle is available for on-the-job driving. The nanny should have a valid driver's license and be comfortable driving in Boston. Parking is not provided for commuting, and a monthly MBTA pass is included as part of the benefits package.

Travel: Openness to occasional domestic and international travel a few times per year is preferred but not required.
