About the Family

A warm, thoughtful, and engaged family in the Waban neighborhood of Newton is seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly adaptable nanny to support their two daughters and help maintain a well-functioning household. Both girls are bright, creative, fun, and deeply engaging. The older daughter, age 12, has Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and the younger daughter, age 8, has Level 1 ASD and a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile.

One Mom is actively involved in the children’s daily lives as a stay-at-home parent while the other works on a hybrid schedule between a home office and an outside office. The family is seeking a nanny who is comfortable collaborating closely with Mom throughout the day and who can dynamically shift priorities to best support the needs of the younger child and the household as a whole. The family values kindness, flexibility, creativity, emotional regulation, and a proactive mindset. There are no pets in the home and no plans to add pets in the future.

About the Role

This is a full-time nanny position that combines childcare support with some household assistance. The ideal candidate will be warm, calm, flexible, and highly intuitive, with the ability to think one step ahead and adapt to changing needs throughout the day.

The family’s 12-year-old daughter is smart, creative, and independent. She attends school Monday through Friday from 8:30am–2:30pm.

The family’s 8-year-old daughter is bright, imaginative, and engaging. She does not attend school and receives support services throughout the week, including an academic specialist on Mondays, an in-home therapist on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and occupational therapy on Fridays. The nanny will play an important role in helping facilitate enriching projects and activities at home, supporting daily routines, encouraging engagement, and creating a calm, positive environment that meets her where she is.

Both children thrive in a low-demand environment that prioritizes connection over compliance. The family utilizes a collaborative, relationship-based approach and values caregivers who are comfortable using declarative language, supporting autonomy, and building trust through flexibility, curiosity, and genuine connection. The ideal candidate will understand how to provide guidance and structure without engaging in power struggles and will be skilled at adapting their approach based on the needs of the moment.

In addition to childcare responsibilities, the role includes light home tidying, basic meal preparation for the children, household errands, and helping maintain smooth day-to-day household operations.

The family would appreciate flexibility for occasional date nights or weekend support if available, though this is not required. The position does not require travel.

The ideal candidate is dependable, kind, creative, emotionally regulated, and proactive. They are able to remain calm under pressure, avoid power struggles, think outside the box, and bring a steady, even-keeled presence to the home. A strong understanding of neurodivergent children and a willingness to collaborate closely with parents and other professionals is highly valued.
