About the Family:

A warm, welcoming, and collaborative family in Lexington is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and proactive nanny/household manager to support their two wonderful children while helping keep their household running smoothly. They are looking for someone who is calm, flexible, emotionally regulated, and genuinely enjoys building meaningful, long-term relationships with children and their families.

Their oldest child is a sweet, verbal, and engaging fourteen-year-old boy with special needs. He communicates using scripts and gestalt language processing and thrives with caregivers who are patient, observant, and willing to meet him where he is. He loves playing with animal figurines, Matchbox cars, completing puzzles, kicking a soccer ball around outside, and riding his bike. He occasionally experiences meltdowns, which are typically well-managed using established sensory supports and calming strategies. He arrives home from school by bus at approximately 3:30 p.m., enjoys a snack and some downtime with a favorite show, and takes medication around 4:00 p.m. Throughout the week, he participates in occupational therapy at home and attends a recreational activity, but otherwise enjoys a relaxed, low-demand, play-based afternoon routine.

His younger sister is eight years old and is creative, kind, and easygoing. She loves coloring, imaginative play, dress-up, riding her bike, and playing board games. She has a particularly close relationship with her older brother and enjoys spending time with him. She arrives home from school by bus around 4:00 p.m., enjoys a snack and time to relax, and attends soccer three afternoons each week. One parent will typically be responsible for her care, allowing the nanny to focus primarily on her older brother while remaining flexible and collaborative as needed.

Both parents work full-time from separate home offices and are highly involved, supportive, and collaborative. They value open communication, teamwork, flexibility, and caregivers who exercise sound judgment while confidently taking initiative. Because one parent will generally be available and primarily caring for the younger child, the family is seeking someone who enjoys working as part of a team to ensure each child receives individualized attention and support.

The family also has one very friendly, hypoallergenic dog who is a beloved member of the household.

About the Role:

This position offers an excellent balance of childcare and household management responsibilities. During school hours, the nanny will focus on household tasks before transitioning into childcare responsibilities in the afternoon. The primary focus will be supporting the family's fourteen-year-old son through a calm, engaging, and play-based after-school routine while collaborating closely with his parents and therapy team. Responsibilities include preparing healthy meals and snacks, facilitating meaningful and developmentally appropriate activities, encouraging outdoor play and movement, supporting medication routines, and helping implement strategies recommended by his specialists.

The family is seeking a caregiver who enjoys contributing to the overall organization and efficiency of the home. Household responsibilities include kitchen tidying, children's laundry, light home tidying and organization, meal preparation for the children, grocery shopping and meal planning, household errands, preparing materials for ABA activities, collaborating with therapists and specialists to implement best practices, and occasionally observing or shadowing therapy sessions to help maintain consistency across the child's support team.

The ideal candidate is calm, warm, flexible, and naturally proactive. They should be a thoughtful problem-solver who is emotionally regulated, exercises sound judgment and discernment, and approaches challenges with patience and a growth mindset. The family is looking for someone who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working collaboratively with parents and specialists while confidently taking initiative independently. They would love to find someone who is interested in becoming a long-term, trusted member of their family's support system.

Occasional weekend or date night support is strongly preferred. Rare travel to the family's Cape Cod home with advance notice is also preferred.
