A warm, thoughtful, and active family in West Cambridge is seeking a professional Nanny/Family Assistant to become a long-term part of their household. Both parents work full-time from an office, working from home on occasion, and they are looking for someone who genuinely cares about their two daughters and takes pride in being a trusted, dependable presence in their lives. The family values kindness, curiosity, honesty, sound judgment, and flexibility, and hopes to find a caregiver who can naturally adapt to the needs of the children and household from day to day. The girls are both bright, kind, and active, with full schedules centered around school, sports, and their individual interests. The family is looking for someone who sees the girls as the clear number-one priority of the role. While there are household and family assistant responsibilities, exceptional childcare and creating a positive, connected relationship with the children should always come first.
About the Role
This is a Nanny/Family Assistant position supporting two wonderful school-aged girls with a schedule that requires significant on-the-job driving. The 13-year-old attends school in Boston and typically finishes around 2:45pm, remaining at school for soccer until approximately 5:30pm Tuesday through Friday before taking the school bus home. She also has evening soccer in Brookline from approximately 7:30pm–9:30pm on Mondays and Thursdays. The 10-year-old attends school in Weston and is picked up at approximately 3:00pm, or 1:00pm on Fridays. She has soccer in Brookline on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until approximately 6:00pm, as well as one weekly basketball practice with the schedule still to be determined. Mom and Dad will be involved in some driving when schedules require being in two places at once.
The 13-year-old is exceptionally kind, academic, and thoughtful. She loves math and science and enjoys staying active through soccer. The 10-year-old is very sweet and inquisitive, with an energetic and athletic personality and a genuine love of sports. She enjoys being active, exploring her interests, and engaging with the world around her. Both girls are looking for a caregiver who will take the time to know them as individuals, encourage their curiosity, support their interests, and become a trusted and caring presence in their lives.
The family places a strong emphasis on flexibility. They are not looking for someone who is overly regimented or needs every day to follow an exact plan. Rather, they hope to find someone who can assess what the family needs on a given day, use good judgment, and comfortably shift priorities as schedules, activities, and household needs change. The ideal caregiver will be thoughtful and proactive while remaining relaxed and adaptable, understanding that caring for the children is always the first priority and household tasks can be adjusted accordingly.
Beyond childcare, the nanny will assist with light family-focused household responsibilities that help keep the home running smoothly. Responsibilities include kitchen tidying, light home tidying and organization, children's and family laundry limited to folding and putting away, taking out the garbage, straightforward meal preparation such as salads, marinades, chopping, and simple recipes, managing online grocery orders, occasional returns, errands, and pharmacy pickups. The family has one dog, so comfort around dogs is important; the nanny will also provide approximately a 20-minute daily walk. The 10-year-old has allergies to salmon, trout, and avocado, all of which must be avoided entirely, with careful attention to ingredients. EpiPens are kept in the home. The 13-year-old has allergies to pollen and wasps.
A significant component of this position is transportation. The nanny must have their own reliable vehicle and be a safe, confident, and responsible driver who is comfortable spending a meaningful amount of the workday driving the girls between school, home, and their many activities. Parking is available. The role does not include regular travel, though 1–2 overnights per month will be required with advance notice and clear communication.

Requirements:
Prior professional nanny experience
Genuine enjoyment of and care for school-aged children
Strong understanding of child development and the ability to connect with children as individuals
