About the Family
A warm family in Chatham, New Jersey is seeking a kind, thoughtful, engaging, and developmentally focused Nanny/Family Assistant to care for their 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. Both children are sweet, active, and enjoy engaging with the world around them.
Their 5-year-old daughter is outgoing and warms up very quickly to others. She is independent, focused, and excited to begin kindergarten. Their 3-year-old son is described as a typical energetic boy who is a ball of energy. He loves being active, especially playing with trucks and vehicles, and has a very sweet personality. He will be starting junior pre-K.
Both parents work hybrid schedules and have separate offices within the home. The family is looking for someone who is comfortable working alongside parents when they are home while also being confident taking ownership of the children's afternoon routines.
The family has two miniature dachshunds who are very sweet but can be loud. No travel is required for this position, and the family does not have any dietary restrictions or allergies.
About the Role
This role will primarily focus on providing engaging, attentive care for the children during their after-school hours. The nanny will pick up the children from school, support their afternoon routines, and create a fun, active, and developmentally appropriate environment for them.
The 5-year-old attends school Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. She does not currently have after-school activities, although the family may add activities in the future. The 3-year-old attends school from 8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and can stay at school until his sister is released for 3:00 p.m. pickup.
The family is looking for a nanny who will be proactive about engaging the children after school through play, outdoor activities, creative projects, and age-appropriate experiences. The ideal candidate will enjoy getting to know each child's personality and interests while providing appropriate structure, boundaries, and consistency.
The nanny should be comfortable preparing meals and snacks for the children and, ideally, enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes that encourage the children to explore a wider variety of foods. The family values someone who can make mealtimes positive and engaging while supporting the children's growing independence.
Household responsibilities will be secondary to childcare and will include kitchen tidying, children's laundry, meal preparation for the children, light home tidying and organization, seasonal clothing inventory, household returns, and general household inventory. Light pet care, such as letting the dogs out and filling their bowls, will also be part of the role.
The family will occasionally require additional weekend and overnight support when both parents are traveling. Approximately 3–4 times per year, the nanny will be asked to stay overnight at the family’s home for approximately 3–4 nights per stay. The family is looking for someone who is comfortable with this occasional flexibility and can provide consistent care for the children during these periods.

Requirements:
Prior professional nanny experience
4-year college degree
Experience caring for preschool and school-aged children

Comfortable establishing and maintaining appropriate boundaries
