About the Family

A fun, warm, and very active family of four in Hingham is seeking a proactive and highly capable Family Assistant to support their home and the busy schedules of two competitive young athletes. Their daughters, ages 13 and 11, are serious ballerinas and cheerleaders with activities 5–6 days each week. They are happy, self-sufficient, easygoing kids who get along extremely well — they primarily need someone to help with transportation, meal prep, and general household flow.

The family values someone who can step in as a trusted partner in keeping the household organized and running smoothly. Dad travels Tuesday–Thursday and works from home when not traveling; Mom is in and out throughout the day. The family also has a friendly, low-maintenance mini goldendoodle who may need the occasional walk.

This role is ideal for someone energetic, positive, flexible, and deeply self-motivated — someone who takes initiative, sees what needs to be done, and feels like a natural extension of the family.

About the Role

This position blends family support and childcare, with a strong focus on transportation and after-school logistics. Core driving hours begin at 2:00 PM daily, but the role guarantees 40 hours/week with additional hours built around household support tasks, meal prep, errands, and organizational projects.

The Family Assistant will:

  • Transport the girls to and from daily dance, cheer, and after-school commitments

  • Manage meal prep, grocery shopping, and basic household organization

  • Assist with “second set of hands” tasks that make weekday schedules run smoothly

  • Identify needs and independently manage special projects, errands, and home tasks

Travel is not required for this role, though occasional overnights may be requested when parents travel.

A reliable personal vehicle is required for transportation to/from work and to drive the children.

Key Responsibilities

Home Management & Organization

  • Maintain general tidiness and reset key household spaces

  • Light home organization and “special projects” (e.g., reorganizing a closet, refreshing systems, identifying improvements)

  • Manage children’s laundry

  • Grocery shopping, returns, pharmacy pickups, and other errands

  • Meal planning support and maintaining organized fridge/pantry systems

  • Service and bring cars to appointments when needed

  • Take out garbage/recycling and assist with general household upkeep

Children’s Support & Family Logistics

  • Daily driving to school, dance, cheer, and other activities (starting at 2:00 PM)

  • Coordinating schedules and staying ahead of the children’s weekly commitments

  • Supporting the girls with transitions, routines, and daily organization

  • Preparing simple, healthy dinners for the girls

  • Encouraging the girls to explore new foods

  • Providing occasional overnight care when parents travel

Personal & Administrative Support

  • Running errands and managing returns

  • Assisting with grocery planning and shopping

  • Helping maintain household efficiency through independent problem-solving

  • Supporting Mom with occasional day-to-day needs when she is between commitments

Meal Prep

Includes but is not limited to:

  • Weekly grocery shopping

  • Washing and cutting fruits/vegetables

  • Prepping proteins and family go-to recipes

  • Simple dinner preparation for the girls

  • Maintaining an organized fridge and keeping staple foods stocked

Pet Care

  • Occasional walks for the family’s mini goldendoodle

  • Assist with grooming/appointment scheduling as needed (very low maintenance dog)

Ideal Candidate

The family is looking for someone who:

  • Has experience as a Family Assistant, Household Manager, or Nanny supporting school-aged children

  • Is a true self-starter with strong initiative and excellent judgment

  • Thrives in a household where no two days are exactly the same

  • Has a warm, friendly, and positive presence

  • Connects naturally with pre-teens and teens

  • Is comfortable balancing structure with flexibility

  • Is energetic, reliable, and proactive

  • Enjoys being part of a family but is not overly parental — more of a big-sister/mentor vibe

  • Has strong communication skills and can anticipate needs before being asked

  • Has a reliable personal vehicle for driving the girls

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000–$100,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

  • Schedule: Guaranteed 40 hours/week

  • Paid Time Off:

    • Two weeks paid vacation

    • Five paid sick days

    • Paid major federal holidays
