Proactive and Professional House Manager Needed for Busy Family in Back Bay

Start: As soon as the right fit is found

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000+

Description:

Start Date: ASAP, flexible for the right fit
Location: Back Bay, Boston, MA
Compensation: $80,000–$100,000+ (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (flexible for the right candidate, 40 hours/week)

A dynamic, professional family in Boston’s Back Bay is seeking a professional, tech-savvy House Manager to support the smooth operation of their home and busy lifestyle. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organized, proactive candidate who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys bringing calm and clarity to a busy household.

About the Family

This dual-career household includes four young children under the age of eight. While there is no childcare involved in this role, the House Manager will play a vital part in ensuring the children’s spaces, schedules, and belongings are well organized and maintained. Both parents work full-time outside of the home—one as a physician and the other as a business owner—so the right candidate will be a self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision. The home is welcoming, respectful, and values clear communication, professionalism, and kindness.

Schedule & Responsibilities

The position is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for the right person. Travel is not required, though occasional support for 1–2 family trips per year may be appreciated. There are no pets, no dietary restrictions, and no need for laundry or cooking. Parking is not available on-site, and no vehicle is required for the role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the family’s shared Google calendar

  • Coordinating appointments, deliveries, and services

  • General administrative and tech support (e.g., setting up Ring doorbells, helping with devices)

  • Organizing children’s rooms and belongings, including backpacks and sports bags

  • Handling returns and online orders

  • Inventory management and household supply restocking

  • Gift shopping and birthday prep

  • Coordinating with handymen or vendors for light home maintenance (e.g., bike assembly)

  • Installing car seats and assisting with occasional errands as needed

  • General household organization projects

The Ideal Candidate

You are an upbeat, independent professional who thrives on systems, organization, and creating a sense of ease for others. You’re polished, discreet, and enjoy working in a respectful, low-drama environment. You're comfortable working independently, collaborating with other staff, and balancing multiple moving parts. A background in household management, executive assistance, or hospitality would be highly valued.

You bring a strong attention to detail, are confident with household technology, and genuinely enjoy being of service. A college degree is required; the family is particularly interested in candidates who are articulate, engaging, and aligned with the values of a high-functioning, family-centered home.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in household management, executive support, or similar

  • Tech-savvy and confident with smart home systems and apps

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Kind, proactive, and collaborative

  • Professional, polished, and drama-free demeanor

  • Works well with other household staff and vendors

  • Local candidates only (Boston area); no relocation considered

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $80,000–$100,000+, depending on experience

  • 3 weeks paid vacation (2 chosen by household manager)

  • 5 paid flexible PTO days

  • Paid federal holidays

  • Healthcare stipend available

  • Annual review with potential for raise and discretionary bonus

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a modern, well-run household. If you’re a thoughtful, detail-oriented House Manager who enjoys supporting busy families behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.
